Where ever you stay, be it in an urban or rural area, you are bound to have a variety of resident or visiting birds around your home. You can only become aware of them once you start observing and paying close attention to them.
These birds around your home can offer you a tremendous opportunity to engage in some bird photography. Backyard bird photography is something that any and every kind of photographer can do. Be it a beginner or a well-seasoned photographer. If you are a beginner at wildlife photography, you can use this to hone your photography skills by trying out different techniques. You can do this in your own time and your own pace. It will help you master your camera, lenses and other equipment. You will have the opportunity to learn the concepts of bird photography and try them out in your very own backyard or garden. On the other hand, those who are well versed in wildlife photography can use backyard bird photography to create different compositions, attract different birds and try to create some stunning and unique images.
I used to always photograph birds as and when I would spot them around the house. But this was a very occasional activity and rarely did a get a good shot. But it wasn’t such a great disappointment because the amount of effort that I put into this activity was almost negligible. I started focusing more keenly on backyard bird photography during the Covid-19 lockdown. I put considerable effort into this endeavour and the results so far have been quite fruitful.
In the backyard bird photography series, I am going to share with you my knowledge and experiences related to backyard bird photography. I am going to cover topics such as building bird perches, creating hides and tracking down the birds. This will also be accompanied by stories of some of my backyard photography escapades.
